In the afternoon, drive out past the royal cenotaphs of Bada Bagh to the Sam sand dunes for sunset, a camel or jeep ride, and Rajasthani folk music and dinner at a desert camp.

Yes. Two nights in Jaipur, one in Jodhpur and two in Jaisalmer covers the main forts and palaces and gives you a full evening on the Sam dunes, without rushing.
How long are the drives?
Jaipur to Jodhpur is about 335 km, around 6 hours, and Jodhpur to Jaisalmer about 285 km, around 5 hours. The drive back from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur on the last day is the same.
Why is Jaisalmer called the Golden City?
The fort and old town are built from yellow sandstone that glows gold in the sun. Jaisalmer Fort is one of the few forts in the world where people still live inside the walls.
Is the camel ride included?
The drive to the Sam dunes and dinner at the desert camp are included. Camel and jeep rides are paid on the spot to the operators, so you can choose how long to ride.
Can we stay overnight in a desert camp?
Yes, on request. We can swap one of the Jaisalmer hotel nights for a tent at a desert camp near the Sam dunes, so you wake up in the desert.
Where does the tour start and end?
It starts with pickup at Jaipur airport or railway station and ends with a drop at Jodhpur airport or railway station, which has better flight and train connections than Jaisalmer.
Are meals included?
Yes — breakfast and dinner daily, with one dinner at a desert camp on the dunes. Lunch is on your own, so you can try local Rajasthani food along the way.
What is the best time for this tour?
October to March. Days are warm and the desert nights cold from December to February. April to June is extremely hot in Jaisalmer.
When is the Jaisalmer Desert Festival?
It is usually held in February, ending on the full moon of the Hindu month of Magh, with camel races, folk music and turban-tying contests on the dunes. Hotels fill early, so contact us well ahead.
